The quad tour lasts 2 hours. During the journey you will cross an eruptive fracture, driving the quads between long fields of lava and black volcanic sand you will admire explosive craters and discover one of the many beauties that distinguish Etna: a lava flow cave. You will then stop to visit some typical buildings of the area, similar to Sardinian nuraghi or Apulian trulli. Continuing along the route you will cross the Etna broom forest, you will descend along lava flow channels, passing between lunar landscapes and “dagale”, wooded islands surrounded by petrified lava. You will cross a forest of Etna pine trees, following the bed of a dry stream, where the landscape is characterized by the alternation of lava and woods. You will then return to the starting point and finish the quad tour. Two people can ride on each quad (the second passenger does not pay). Driving license B mandatory.

MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS AND LAMAR VALLEY stand out in the upper loop of Yellowstone, because of their volcanic and glaciation history. Every hundred years or so, the hot springs migrate from one spot to another and always leave behind calcium carbonate. You could hike up the travertine terraces. Sometimes elk hang out in the village unafraid of people. Lamar Valley could have been carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago. Now what is left behind is boulders that must have also been moved by glaciers. You will see them strewn around before you get to Lamar Valley proper. The soil in Lamar is suitable for lush grass that you will see. And that attracts bison, pronghorn, elk. But it also attracts wolves and Grizzlies that want to have the other animals previously mentioned for meal. Besides these two attractions, you will also see Tower Falls as well as Calcite Springs which oozes with super hot sulfuric oil. With time left, we shall take you to the petrified tree.

A busy day exploring the region’s unique and most treasured assets, beginning with a short stop at the magnificent Tule Tree.
